A busy weekend to keep you going till the OK Cafe…

So the OK Café has not started yet, but no need to sit at twiddling your thumbs watching the clock. There are a few thing on…. well loads actually! Here are some of them:

Friday Night
UNDER the PAVEMENT fundraiser for ALL FM, a community radio station based in Levenshulme. There will be music from Jezabelleza, crash mats, manifest plus no decorum and friends of OK Café crew in attendance.. from 7:30pm, £3 entry, see you there!

Saturday Daytime:
Get your time machines / teleport devices ready to get to Save Sunbank Walk and Sheffield LaDIYfest:  Stop Expansion at Manchester Airport (SEMA) are organising a family friendly walk in the greenfields and woodlands of Sunbank in protest against Manchester Airport’s proposed plans for a ‘World Logistics Hub’. Save Sunbank Walk will be an opportunity for local residents and campaigners to come together to show their opposition to the expansion before the final decision is made on the application by the Planning and Highways Committee on the 22nd November 2012. Meet at 2pm at Hasty Lane near Manchester Airport, WA15 8UT.

Sheffield LaDIYfest is also on (actually started on Friday night) with a weekend of festivities and workshops & discussions on feminist issues. LaDIYfest Sheffield is an inclusive, DIY, anti- capitalist, community-based collective involved with local activism and a range of events.

Sunday

You’ll probably want to be in three places at the same time, as events are conveniently spread across Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester (… OK so may be by now bed is also a good place to be…) So while LaDIYfest in Sheffield continues, Leeds is firing up with the Leeds Zine Fair. It’s a celebration of zines (DIY magazines), self publishing, radical politics and DIY cultute. Lots on with stalls, workshops, a Zine in a Day, letterpress printing, bands and more! From 12pm – 6pm, in Leeds.

……and meanwhile back in Manchester, friends of the OK Café are running a Swap Shop (with bands!) as a fundraiser for political / activist prisoners support network. It’s at Antwerp Manson 3pm – 10pm, with live music by the Stressed Out Collective and Manchester Couchusrfing. Bring stuff, swap stuff, suggested donation £1-2 http://www.facebook.com/events/230816797046827/

And something for next weekend: Keep on eye on this site as we’ll be meeting on Sunday 11th Nov at 2pm for a grand march / parade / demo to the Cafe, details to follow!

Keep warm & see you soon,

OK Café Crew
Xx
