Theatre of the Oppressed

‘Introduction to the Theatre of the Oppressed. Created by Brazilian theatre activist Augusto Boal and influenced by the educator and theorist Paulo Freire. A set of techniques and methods that can be used to transform reality and empower communities. It will include theatre games, image theatre and time for discussion. The workshop will take you through a process so please come on time and stay until the end. No acting or theatre experience is required just come with an open mind.’
Making stuff out of rubbish

Does the culture within the OK Cafe and the wider radical political scene reflect a politics of mutual aid? Or is our culture sometimes a barrier to furthering this aim? Do we foster self-empowerment or do we often hand our power over to the very attitudes and institutions that we aim to challenge?

An evening of some of Manchester’s finest poets – compèred by the lovely Dominic Berry. There will be few open mic slots and plenty of delicious vegan cake. Please bring along some baked goods or a small donation.’
