Week 1 was think, Week 2 was plan,  now the third week of the Cafe is about action.

11.00 – ACTION! National Student Walkout.  Calling all students to protest against the cuts to Higher Education and rise in tuition fees.  Walk out of your lecture at 11am.  Meet at University Place.  Rally at All Saints Park at 12 noon.

13.00 – ACTION! Move Your Money Manchester.  Meet at Market Street, centre of town.  The banks caused the crisis so close your account and move your money to an ethical building society, credit union or ethical bank.

15:30 – 17:00:  Podcasts; workshop and discussion.  Manchester Young Podcasters is a group dedicated to providing people with the skills and resources needed to set up and run their own podcasts on the issues that matter to them in their own communities. Come on down for a workshop on the basics of podcasting (30min), followed by an open meeting for anyone looking to set up a podcast in their area.  http://mcryoungpodcasters.wordpress.com/

17.00 – 19.00: Job Seekers of the World Unite!  A workshop for the work shy and the eager to work. Don’t feel humiliated and angry, live on the JSA on your own terms. Share ideas and tips, get to know your benefit rights and keep that dole depression at bay.

18:00 – 19:00: The corporation: Film and discussion.  The subject is the detrimental impact of corporations upon all aspects of our lives including environment, children, health, media, democracy and genes.

 19:00 – 20:30: Spin Dry Vs Leveson ‘A Very Public Enquiry’

 20:00 – 21:30: Greek crisis is a EU crisis.  A Greek activist from Athens will facilitate an open discussion about the Greek economical crisis. Topics will include a variety of problems caused by the economical crisis such as;    1. racism      2. Police brutality  3. Media propoganda    4. Increase in homelessness       5. Increase in Unemployed.

This is a great opportunity for you to get involved and discuss what you see as the solutions to the problem.  For example, is direct action a solution?  And is self sufficiency achievable?  Come along to OKcafe and discuss with us!

21:30 – 23:30 Luvdump – gig  
A H/C / Punk / Ska / Folk Punk evening for our last Wednesday with Luvdump, Raty Little Fingers, Hugh Stilltoe and Kas!
